Development of Bioacoustics Tools for Monitoring of Amphibian Diversity in the Munnar Landscape

High altitude landscapes, such as Munnar’s, pose a significant challenge for taxonomic identification of amphibians. This project aims to develop a taxonomic tool based on the vocalizations of frogs in the target landscape.

The idea is to build a non-invasive passive recording device which is equipped to analyze data and classify the calls recorded by the device. Machine learning models will be leveraged to automate monitoring thus enabling ecological research and conservation planning.
